Bankruptcy charges hit NWA in third quarter as operating profit rebounds. Heavy bankruptcy-related charges pushed Northwest Airlines Corp. into the red for the third quarter as it reported a net loss of $1.18 billion compared to a loss of $475 million in the year-ago period. Nov 1, 2006

Northwest reports Q3 loss on bankruptcy costs. Northwest Airlines reported a third-quarter loss of $1.18 billion, which included several charges related to its bankruptcy filing. Revenue rose nearly 1% to $3.41 billion. The airline still expects to post a small profit for all of 2006. Nov 1, 2006

Northwest may restructure jet leases, judge rules. Northwest Airlines may restructure the leases of more than 100 regional jets, a bankruptcy judge rules. Financiers Export Development Canada and General Electric Capital will receive general unsecured claims under the airline's plan.

Northwest Airlines, Boeing

Northwest Airlines today will complete the retirement of the Boeing, Douglas built, DC-10 from its transatlantic network, leaving its Minneapolis-Honolulu service as the only route operated with the aircraft. It will begin using an A330 on that route on Jan. 7. It earlier deployed an A330-300 on its daily Memphis-Amsterdam service, replacing the DC-10-30 used on the route. From Nov. 26 the route will be operated with a 243-seat A330-200. Oct 31, 2006

Northwest Airlines, Boeing, Airbus

Northwest nears retirement of all DC-10s. Northwest Airlines will stop flying Boeing built by Douglas DC-10s on Jan. 7. The airline is replacing the planes with the Airbus A330, which burns less fuel and carries more passengers. Oct 31, 2006

United Airlines, Northwest Airlines

United Airlines and Northwest Airlines said they are studying the fare increase and had not matched it. UAL added that it increased fares by USD$25 to USD$50 on Thursday for one-way trips in about 50 markets where the airline faces low-fare competition. Those fare increases apply only to last-minute walk-up purchases. Nov 3, 2006
