The Turkish navy's first of six EADS Casa CN-235 maritime patrol aircraft to receive a Thales mission system has made its modified debut flight from a Tusas Aerospace Industries facility. Modified to carry Thales's Amascos mission system under Ankara's Meltem 2 project, the aircraft will be used for anti-surface and anti-submarine warfare tasks. In addition to TAI, other local partners on the modification programme include Aselsan, Havelsan and Milsoft, says Thales. Dec 5, 2008

Switzerland has completed a 100-sortie series of test flights involving the three candidate airframes being considered to replace part of its Northrop F-5 fighter fleet. The nation's air force and Armasuisse procurement agency on 2 December finished three weeks of testing at Emmen air base using two Eurofighters provided by EADS. The work followed earlier evaluations of the Dassault Rafale and Saab Gripen at the same site. Dec 5, 2008
