TO CARRY APPLE'S HIGH-END QUADRA SERIES FOR 'POWER USERS'
DALLAS, Sept. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- CompUSA Inc. (NASDAQ: CUSA), America's largest computer superstore retailer, announced today that it has been authorized by Apple Computer, Inc. to begin retailing Apple's high-end Quadra series of personal computers in CompUSA's 29 computer superstores nationwide.
"We're very pleased with this agreement because for the first time we will be able to offer the full line of Apple computers and peripherals to our retail customers, as well as our commercial accounts," said Nathan Morton, president and chief executive officer of CompUSA. "Our sustained success this past year in significantly expanding sales of Apple products in our stores was a key reason for this new agreement."
The Quadra series currently includes the Quadra 700 as well as the Quadra 950, which is a very high-performance computer.
"We anticipate high demand for the Quadra models from our corporate accounts, as well as from other 'power users' who require the latest technology in high-performance microcomputers," Morton added.
CompUSA Inc. operates 29 high-volume computer superstores in 20 major metropolitan markets from coast to coast. The stores offer over 5,000 personal computer, software and related products at deep-discount prices to retail, business and government customers. Each store also includes a full-service computer maintenance center and classroom training facilities.
