The Deutschsprachige evangelisch-lutherische Kirchengemeinde, a German-language ecumenical community church, meets every second and fourth Saturday at 5pm at the Methodist Church of Sofia, at 86 Rakovski Str. Saint Joseph Catholic Church holds Sunday mass in Polish at gam, in Bulgarian at 10.30am and at 6pm, and in Latin at noon. The church is at 146 Knyaz Boris I Str, Sofia.


A weekly Catholic Mass in English is held on Sundays at 11am at the Catholic Chapel on 5 Oborishte Str in Sofia.


Holy mass is celebrated by Father Jacek Wojcik CR on Monday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 6pm, and on Sunday at 10am at Sveti Mihail RC Church, 80 Knyaz Boris I Blvd in Varna. Sveta Troitsa/Holy Trinity Church holds Bulgarian services with English translation every Sunday morning at 10.30am. All are welcome. Contact Bob Faber at 089/ 988 17 09 for further information.

Murphy's Misfits, a rugby club team for expats and Bulgarians, tends to meet every Thursday at the National Sport Academy in Studentski Grad at 6.30pm, and at 1pm on Saturdays for touch training. All are welcome. For further information on the Misfits, contact Murray Te Huki at


The Sofia Hash House Harriers is an active and very relaxed recreational and social group composed of Bulgarians and expats; visitors and first-time Hashers are always welcome. A "hash" is an organised event that usually includes a run or walk through a park or open space followed by a gathering of the runners and walkers to socialise and enjoy a beer or soft drink. Each hash concludes at a restaurant or mehana. In addition to the Sunday hashes, members of the Sofia hash gather socially every Thursday evening at the Irish Harp pub in Sofia, starting at about 8pm. Some people come only for the fun of a pub evening and do not come to the Sunday events. Further information about the Sofia Hash can be found at
