FEDYA MYAGKOV, 6, and HELLDER LIMA both are local skiers with contrasting backgrounds. Myagkov attends kindergarten at Eugene's Hillside Alternative School. He has been skiing since age 2 and placed second this year in the Nastar National Championships at Park City, Utah, on the Olympic hill. He also won gold at the Bantam Cup at White Pass, Wash., and silver at the Shakespeare Cup at Mount Ashland, trailing only a boy three years older. Myagkov competes for the Willamette Alpine Race Program. Lima, by contrast, never set foot in snow until this past winter. The Rotary exchange student from Brazil is a senior at Springfield High School, and ended up as the sole member of the school's ski team as a result of staying with a host family active in cross-country skiing. Hellder Lima is much better known by classmates for his singing and acting in school musical and theatrical productions.
