Community Bankers Trust Corporation (NASDAQ: ESXB), the holding company for Essex Bank, has said that it has been added to the Russell 2000 Index as part of the annual reconstitution of the Russell US Indexes, effective June 23, 2017.

Rex L. Smith, III, the company's president and chief executive officer, stated, 'We are very pleased to join the Russell 2000(R). Inclusion in this index confirms all of the strategic steps that we have taken in recent years and will certainly enhance our visibility with investors and the liquidity in our stock.'

The Russell 2000 Index measures the performance of the small-cap segment of the U.S. equity markets. Membership in the Russell 2000 Index includes automatic inclusion in the appropriate growth and value indexes. A part of FTSE Russell, a global index provider, the Russell indexes are widely used by investment managers and institutional investors for index funds and as benchmarks for active investment strategies

Community Bankers Trust Corporation is the holding company for Essex Bank, a Virginia state bank with 25 full-service offices, 19 of which are in Virginia and six of which are in Maryland. The Bank also operates one loan production office in Virginia. The bank opened new branch offices in West Broad marketplace in metropolitan Richmond on May 16, 2017 and on Timberlake Road in Lynchburg, Virginia on June 19, 2017.
