EUGENE

Summer supplies needed: The ShelterCare Family Housing and ShelterCare Brethren Housing programs are seeking donations for children who use their services.

Items needed through the end of summer include clothes, sunscreen, towels, swimsuits, snacks, frisbees and meal coupons. Families also can use passes for Lane Transit District, Lane County Ice Center, local swimming pools and movie theaters, Eugene Emerald baseball games and Skate World.

Donated items can be delivered to the sites at 969 Highway 99N and 1062 Main St., Springfield, or to the ShelterCare Administration office at 1790 W. 11th Ave. For more information, call 686-1262.

MILITARY NEWS

Kerry Kingsley-Smith of Eugene has been promoted to the rank of captain in the U.S. Air Force. The son of Marian Smith and Jerry Smith, both of Eugene, Kingsley-Smith graduated from Sheldon High School in 1993 and the University of Oregon in 1998. He is the plans director for the 55th Wing at Offutt Air Force Base in Omaha, Neb.

CLASS REUNIONS

Springfield High School: Class of 1945: July 11. A no-host get-together will be held at 6 p.m. at the Roaring Rapids Pizza Co., 4006 Franklin Blvd. Call 747-3559 or 688-2482.

Elmira High School: Class of 1957: Aug. 3-4. The class will meet at 6 p.m. Saturday at Elmer's, 3350 Gateway St., for a casual gathering. Dinner, which costs $24 per person, will be served at 7 p.m. A dance and time to visit will be from 8 p.m. to midnight.
