Commissioner calls for maintaining cleanliness at water filtration plant.
HYDERABAD -- The Commissioner Hyderabad Division Muhammad Abbass Baloch has directed Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) to maintain cleanliness at water filtration plants.
During a visit to the filtration plants and water storage ponds of WASA here on Thursday the Commissioner also asked Managing Director WASA Agha Abdul Rahim to grow plants outside the filtration plants by removing existing bushes.
Baloch also directed Rahim to prepare a detailed report about the repair works needed for the plants and submit the same to his office. He further asked WASA to improve the recovery of the water bills and to cut off the illegal connections.
Briefing the Commissioner on the occasion, the In Charge of New Filtration Plant on Jamshoro Road Aslam Rana apprised that 30 million gallon per day water was being supplied from the plant to the citizens.
He added that the plant was the largest of the 5 plants in the district and its storage ponds could store 400 MGD water.
According to him, the staff at the plant worked in 3 shifts round the clock.
The Commissioner directed WASA's MD to carry out a survey of WASA's land in premises of the plant and also to make the Old Treatment Plant, which is located adjacent to the 30 MGD plant, functional.
The MD said the Old Treatment Plant was under the process of rehabilitation which would be most likely completed by December 31, adding that after completion an additional 10 MGD would be added to WASA's system.
Later, the Commissioner chaired a meeting with regard to plantation in the city. He directed Depuity Commissioner Hyderabad to plant trees on the exit and entry points of Hyderabad.
