Commissioner Schneider Recognizes Elk Grove Village as the Most Affordable Community.

On Tuesday, June 19, Cook County Commissioner Timothy O. Schneider presented Elk Grove Village Mayor Craig B. Johnson Village with a commemorative resolution honoring Elk Grove Village for its continued excellence in providing affordable living and high quality services to the residents who call the Village home.
The resolution noted that many areas throughout Cook County the cost of living continues to increase through taxes and fees impacting. To keep track of the cost of living, Elk Grove Village conducts an annual survey, which is intended to account for the entire range of municipal taxes and fees that impact residents--this includes property tax, sales tax, natural gas tax, cable franchise fees, waste/recycling services, water/sewer rates, and various other costs.
The survey evaluates the cost of living in Elk Grove Village with eight comparable communities, including: Arlington Heights, Schaumburg, Park Ridge, Des Plaines, Palatine, Mount Prospect, Hoffman Estates and Rolling Meadows. Elk Grove Village has ranked as the lowest overall cost-of-living in each of the 10 years the survey has been conducted.
