An international depression is always just around the corner, according to financial experts.
But it is part of human nature to fear the worst.
And when an economy is as healthy as the one we are enjoying at the moment, it's natural to think that it can't last.
The Organisation for Economic Co-operation are worrying about record employment figures.
A job for everyone isn't a good idea, they say.
They calculate that if there are not enough workers to go around, then everyone will be better paid.
In other words, if the labour force is on a seller's market, then employers will have to pay up to keep them.
Anything that ends slave wages and rotten working conditions can't be bad at all.
The men who make numbers jump through hoops are seemingly not happy at anything that is comforting to all.
The rest of us will just have to make hay while the sun shines.
