Comment: EU fuels the fire.

FRENCH fishermen are threatening to blockade the channel ports next week if the price of fuel isn't reduced.

Once again they will hold their Government to ransom and cost British business millions.

The European Union has a legal duty to keep traffic flowing. But just as the French police and Government do nothing to stop the wildcat strikes, neither does the EU.

It will be years, if ever, before British hauliers get compensation. The EU seems intent on meddling in trivia such as the football transfer system. So why is it so slow to intervene in an issue that prevents the free flow of trade through Europe?

If the EU does nothing, French workers will succeed in holding the whole of Europe to ransom.
