Comic on redhead mission.
FLAME-HAIRED funnyman Owen O'Neill fears his fellow redheads could be wiped off the face of the planet by the year 2100.
The ginger-haired standup comic from Co Tyrone certainly isn't laughing about the prospect of becoming an endangered species and has launched a one-man mission to save the bright-haired ones.
O'Neill has travelled to New York four times this year trying to persuade US redheads to breed with each other.
The gene for red hair is recessive so, unless redheads breed with each other, they will be wiped off the face of the planet by 2100, warned a recent study by the Oxford Hair Foundation.
O'Neill said: "There are more redheads in America than anywhere and the only thing to do to save them is to get together and breed. That's why I'm here!"
He is making a BBC documentary called Ginger Gene.
