Columbo's copy killing.

A WOMAN and her lover killed her husband by copying a plot from the TV detective Columbo, a court heard yesterday.

Jean-Bernard Wiktorska, 45, was drugged, laid out on his home weight-lifting bench and asphyxiated with a 50lb barbell placed across his neck.

A court in Versailles, near Paris, heard wife Nadege, 50, and Jean-Stephane Saizelet, 44, got the idea from the US series.

Saizelet is contesting a 22-year sentence. But his mistress, who received a 13-year term, has not appealed against it.
