ABATRON, INC.

Offers epoxy pastes in custom-mixed colors.

ACCURATE COLOR, INC.

Manufactures a line of colorants and multifunctional additive dispersions. Concentrates, liquids, dry colors, and dustless dry powders are available for most polymers. The dustless grades reportedly improve uniformity when used with automated metering equipment. Color concentrates from 100 to 20,000 lb, with high pigment loadings, are the firm's specialty. The liquids and pastes are said to be easily pumped, and a line of peristaltic liquid-color pumps is also offered.

A full service technical-service laboratory, including computerized color matching and quality control, can design a complete additive system or manufacture a product to customer specifications.

ADELL PLASTICS, INC.

Offers custom compounds of color concentrates in all thermoplastics, especially in engineering materials. Multi-functional concentrates containing more than one type of additive are also offered.

ADVANCE COATINGS CO.

Manufactures 9911 Dis-Res dispersions for use with polyester resins, polyurethanes and epoxies.

AKROCHEM CORP.

Provides a broad line of concentrates, powders, and pastes. Standard lines of color concentrates in rubber, vinyls, butyrates, polyolefins, acrylics, and other polymeric systems are available.

Company's laboratory can match colors and design color concentrates and pastes for both thermosets and thermoplastics.

AKZO ENGINEERING PLASTICS

Provides color concentrates for all types of thermoplastics, including vinyls, polyolefins, styrenics, weatherable styrenics, acrylics, polyesters, polyurethanes, polycarbonates, nylons and TPE. Wire and cable color concentrates are available in fluorpolymers, vinyls, nylons, polyolefins, polyesters, polyurethanes and EVA. Custom-design/multifunctional concentrates are available.

ALLIED COLOR INDUSTRIES, INC.

Custom formulated colorants for thermoplastics are available as either dry blends or as pelletized concentrates. Applications include engineering resins such as nylons, polycarbonates, acetals and TPR as well, and most commodity resins. Pearlescents and other unusual effects are an area of specialization. Company has also begun offering a line of custom-formulated, value-added resins made entirely from post-consumer regrind to meet processors demand.

AMERICAN COLORS, INC.

Manufactures a full line of liquid color concentrates. Customer is given the choice of vehicle. Dispersions are available in standard or matched colors and can be tailored to meet individual specifications.

AMERICHEM, INC.

Color concentrates are produced for use in acetal, acrylics, ABS, cellulosics, EEA, EVA, nitrile barrier resins, nylons, polycarbonate, thermoplastic polyesters, olefins, PS, thermoplastic urethane, PVC, SAN, and other thermoplastics. Products are available either as matched custom colors or individual pigment concentrates as part of matching systems. They are available in sizes ranging from cubes and pellets to powders.

Company offers custom color matching for all thermoplastics applications, including automotive, appliances, house siding, food packaging, and special effects. These concentrates are custom-designed for extrusion, injection molding, blow molding, and calendering.

AMETEK

WESTCHESTER PLASTICS DIV.

Produces a broad line of color concentrates for use in LDPE, HDPE, PP, PBT and most engineering thermoplastics. Concentrates are available to match special colors, to comply with FDA and USDA regulations, and for use in bottles, supported and unsupported films, profiles, and coextrusions.

Company also supplies special concentrates of uv stabilizers, antioxidants, and antistatic agents in special resins. Headquarters and plant are in Nesquehoning, Pa., with an additional plant located in Wapakoneta, Ohio.

AMPACET CORP.

Offers a full range of color and additive concentrates, including degradable products with over 7000 standard and proprietary formulations on file. Company specializes in concentrates for polyolefins such as LDPE, HDPE, homopolymer and copolymer PP. Universal concentrates are also supplied for use with engineering thermoplastics. Special concentrates designed to comply with FDA and USDA regulations are also offered.

Applications include extrusion coating, blown and cast film, injection and blow molding, pipe, profile, mono- and multifilament fiber extrusion, and automotive uses. Company also offers pigment/additive concentrates tailored for use in granular and pelletized LLDPE grades.

AVECOR, INC.

Offers color concentrates, blended dry colors, and liquid-phase dispersions. Concentrates are offered for packaging, and food and beverage containers. Other applications include ABS weatherable polymers, acrylics and vinyls used in building and construction, office supplies, automotive RIM parts, foam bedding and furniture, toys and housewares. Special colorants are available for electronic components, wire and cable, and computer housings.

Company supplies colorants for Dow's Rovel line, Rohm and Haas's highflow impact acrylics, and Continental Polymer Co.'s molding and extrusion grade acrylics.

Company reports it can formulate over 20,000 colors and offers unlimited blending and matching services. Headquarters are in Vonore, Tenn., with additional plants located in Los Angeles and North Kansas City, Mo. Avecor is an independent unit within M.A. Hanna Co.

BASF CHEMICALS

COATINGS & COLORANTS DIV.

Offers a range of color concentrates in a variety of carries. Colorants include phthalocyanine blues and greens, organic AZO reds, diaryline yellows and oranges, high performance reds, maroons, violets, yellows and blues. Inorganic reds, oranges, yellows, greens, blues, and browns are also available, as well as a complete line of dyes. Dispersions in polyethylene are also offered.

MD BOTH INDUSTRIES

Supplies metallic pigments: bronze, copper, and aluminum powders and pastes and offered in various shades of gold and bronze. Both powders and pastes include grades of gold bronze, specialty, tarnish resistant, and copper industrial powders. A line of 14 different grades of aluminum pastes and powders in particle sizes ranging from 25 to 6 microns is also available.

BREEN COLOR CONCENTRATES, INC.

Supplies vinyl and PE color concentrates for wire and cable applications, profile extrusion, and injection and blow molding. Materials are offered in pelletized or diced form. Lots of any size reportedly can be handled. Custom color matching is also provided.

Company's Colorpac line provides the user with a number of benefits including precise control of preweighed volumes of pigment for improved color control, 100% transfer of the color into a batch, easier inventory maintenance, and better overall production control.

CDI DISPERSIONS

Manufactures custom pigment and chemical paste dispersions for use in PVC film, plastisols and organosols, urethane foams, polyester foams and coatings.

CABOT CORP.

Offers a wide range of regular, medium, and high-color carbon blacks in both fluffy and pellet forms, such as Regal 330 and 660 and Monarch/Black Pearls 700, 800, 880, 900, 1100, and 1300. Carbon black is used in thermoset and thermoplastic systems to impart a range of black masstone color and tinting strength. At the concentrations usually used for coloring (1-2%), carbon black also provides significant uv protection.

CANADA COLORS & CHEMICALS, LTD.

Manufactures color concentrates for polyolefins and PVC used in film extrusion, wire and cable extrusion, and blow molding. Liquid colorant systems are also available.

CAROLINA COLOR CORP.

Specializes in custom concentrates, dry, and liquid colors for most thermoplastics, including PE, PP, PS, ABS, SAN, and other engineering resins.

Company offers computer color matching services and custom formulations that can include uv stabilizers, antistats and antioxidants, as well as custom formulations to satisfy FDA and USDA requirements. Manufacturing plants are in Salisbury, N.C., and Lancaster, Tex.

CHROMA CORP.

Offers a line of standard blacks, whites, and 25 other opaque and transparent color concentrates for most thermoplastics. Ten FDA approved black concentrates are available for a variety of polymers from ABS to PE.

A recent development is a line of colorants said to offer excellent dispersion in fast-cycling processes. Such systems can be tailored to specific processes and end uses.

CHROMATICS, INC.

Offers color concentrates and pre-colored resins for all fluorcarbon types, including CTFE, ECTFE, ETFE, FEP, PEEK, PES, PFA, PTFE and PVDF.

CIBA-GEIGY CORP.

PIGMENTS DIV.

Company's inorganic and organic pigments include specialty quinacridone-and mixed-metal oxide pigments. The mixed-metal oxides, manufactured by Drakenfeld, reportedly withstand high temperature processing and are especially suited to engineering plastics.

Also offers its specialty lines of heavy-metal-free organic pigments such as Cromophtal, Irgazin, and Irgalite. Specialties include Filester pigments for extruded and injection molded polyester, Microlith pigment dispersions (Cromophtal and Irgazin pigments), and Orasol dyes for use in transparent acrylic and styrene polymers.

Monastral quinacridone pigments in a wide hue range are also manufactured. Colors offered include violet, magenta, maroon, red, scarlet, and gold.

CLEVELAND PIGMENT & COLOR CO.

Supplies iron oxides, barytes, and fluorescent pigments. Custom blending, packaging, and private-label services are also available.

COATINGS AND PLASTICS, INC. Offers polyester paste dispersions.

COLONIAL RUBBER WORKS, INC.

Plastics Division offers a wide range of black and white concentrates for use in LDPE, LLDPE, homopolymer and copolymer PP, universal carrier and polystyrene. Specific grades are available for film, sheet, blown film, profiles, pipe, and injection molding applications as well as uv concentrate. Also offers custom bulk color concentrates. Headquarters are located in Dyersburg, Tenn., with additional operations in Kingstree, S.C.

COLOR FORMULATORS, INC.

Manufactures pigment dispersions in pellets or nondusting powders for PP, nylon and PET fibers and plastics. Organic pigments are dispersed in suitable carriers, and are furnished in pigment loadings up to 50%.

Additionally, a line of flushed colors dispersed in LDPE is available. Their ease of dispersion and fine particle size reportedly provide an alternative to the use of dry color in the manufacture of PE color concentrates.

COLOR-CHEM INTERNATIONAL

Manufactures and markets its Amaplast line of specialty solvent dyes, which have high performance (light, thermal, wrather, migration) stability when applied particularly to acrylic, polycarbonate, ABS, PPS, Nylon, and PBT. Based on company's studies, dyes are also suitable for coloring the nonpolar plastics (polyethylene and polypropylene) in the presence of specialized carriers.

COLORCO, INC.

Offers color concentrates and dry colors custom-matched for most engineering thermoplastics. Colorants are offered for all applications, including extrusion, injection molding, and blow molding. Colors are especially formulated to meet individual specifications regarding toxicity, lightfastness, weathering, or rheological requirements. Colors can range from everyday reds and blues to exotic metallics, pearls, fluorescents, and phosphorescents.

COLORCON

Produces a variety of FD&C aluminum lake pigments for plastic packaging materials used in direct contact with food. They are used in plastic films, molded or extruded products, containers, and liners. The pigments reportedly eliminate the concern of color migration, as well as other problems associated with nonfood approved colorants. Company's Colorcon HT (high tint) Lakes are said to deliver intense colors, along with a reduction in material requirements.

Company also offers technical service support, such as color matching and laboratory analysis of customer's products, as well as in-plant field assistance working directly with customer personnel on-site.

Supplies liquid colors, including ones that comply with FDA regulations. Liquids can also contain uv stabilizers, blowing agents, lubricants, antioxidants, etc. Company also offers a flushed line of nondusting 50% pigment dispersions suitable for all thermoplastics.

COLORTECH INC.

Manufactures color and additive concentrates, specializing in blown film, blow molding, injection molding, and sheet extrusion. Company has manufacturing facilities in Brampton, Ontario and Morristown, Tenn.

COLORWEL CONCENTRATES LTD.

Canadian firm that specializes in custom color concentrates and dry color for all thermoplastic resins. Manufactures custom additive packages and specialty thermoplastic color concentrates, including pearlescents, fluorescents, phosphorescents and metallics. Computer-assisted color matching and quality control programs ensure cost-effective "best" matches under all light conditions and maintenance of accuracy and reproducibility batch-to-batch in production.

COLUMBIAN CHEMICALS, CO.

Supplies a complete line of its Raven carbon blacks for both pigment and conductive applications and for uv protection. Its Ultra carbon blacks are high purity grades. Conductex 975 Ultra and SC Ultra are recommended for conductive applications. Raven 2000 is recommended for high-jettness plastics applications and Raven 430 for high-quality concentrates. Raven C Ultra is recommended for uv protection.

The Mapico Division also supplies Mapico yellow, red, and black iron oxides in a range of shades, plus a unique line of heat-stable tan pigments.

CONAP INC.

Conap DS-1830 series of color pastes contains inorganic pigments to provide resistance to heat and light. These color dispersion are compatible with epoxy and urethane systems, and have been designed to mix in equally well with either low- or high-viscosity systems.

COOK COMPOSITES & POLYMERS CO.

Pigment pastes are supplied for use in polyester molding compounds and gel coats. Features are said to include good handling properties, high compatibility, full color development with minimal mixing, light and weather stability, absence of solvents, stable color in molding, and a minimal effect on cure rate or catalyzed pot life. A wide variety of tints reportedly may be obtained by adding white without changing the above characteristics.

COOKSON PIGMENTS, INC.

Organic and inorganic pigments offered include low-dust lead chromate yellows and lead molybdate oranges. The following products are available: encapsulated "Krolor" heat- and chemical-resistant types, "Watching" BON and Red 2B azos, phthalocyanine greens and blues, "Dalamar" Hansa and toluidene yellows, and "Green Gold" nickel azo yellow.

COZ DIV.

ALLIED PRODUCTS CORP.

Computer-matched color concentrates are supplied for PS, polyolefins, and all other thermoplastic molding and extrusion resins, including engineering plastics. They are offered in pellets that are easily handled in automatic hopper-blending equipment.

CUSTOM CHEMICALS CORP.

Company's line of color concentrates and compounds are supplied as micro-pulverized powder, granules, pellets, random chip, cubes, and dustless powders of classified particle size. They are used in PVC, CAB, PE, PP, TP polyesters, ABS, nylon, acrylic, polycarbonate, or other resins.

Daylight fluorescent pigments and dyes for plastics are supplied as follows:

* The Z- and ZQ-Pigments recommended for injection molding from 375 to 550 F.

* The S-Pigments recommended for injection molding from 320 to 550 F.

* The ZX-Pigments, extra-strength, recommended mainly for blow molding.

* The NX-Pigments, extra-strength, low plateout recommended mainly for blow molding.

DEER POLYMER CORP.

Company's Deerback 5050 contains 50% carbon black colorant in an olefin carrier. It can be used to color a wide variety of thermoplastic resins and yields a good black color when used at low levels. Because of its reportedly excellent tinting strength, Deerblack 5050 is highly recommended for changing mixed colors to black.

DEGUSSA CORP., PIGMENTS DIV.

Produces a wide range of high-color carbon blacks of the channel type for all types of plastics. In addition, Degussa supplies cadmium sulfide yellows, cadmium-selenium sulfide oranges and reds, which are said to be distinguished by their extreme lightfastness, heat stability, and resistance to acids and bases.

DISCAS, INC.

Supplies elastomeric-based color concentrates in HDPE, PP, EVA, and SBS (Kraton), as well as natural and pre-colored thermoplastic elastomers.

DOMINION COLOUR CO.

Manufactures color pigments for use in the plastics, printing inks and coatings industries. The range includes chrome yellow and molybdate orange pigments as well as yellow, orange and red azo pigments. Grades of chrome yellow and molybdate orange are available with improved heat stability.

DU PONT CO.

Offers several grades of "Ti-Pure" titanium dioxide. These high-quality white pigments are specifically designed to provide a wide range of properties desired by the plastics compounder.

DYNEPCO INC.

Specializes in precolored compounds, matched dry colors and color concentrates for engineering thermoplastics, including plastics such as nylon, TP polyesters, and polycarbonate. Company offers particular expertise in compounding of filled and reinforced resin systems. Colorants come in quantities of 100 lb and up.

Company also provides expertise in compounding flame-retardant systems into polymers and preparing FR concentrates.

EM INDUSTRIES, INC.

PIGMENTS DIV.

Manufactures a line of pearlescent pigments trademarked Afflair that creates visual enhancements on all quality finished products within the packaging, printing inks, graphic arts and plastics industry.

Afflair Lustre Pigments come in many colors and particle size variations. As an excellent alternative to metallic flake pigments, these inert, environmentally safe lustre pigments are compatible in water-based and solvent-based systems and are applicable to flexo, gravure, lithography, silk-screen and overprint lacquers.

EASTMAN CHEMICAL PRODUCTS

Color concentrates are supplied for use in PP and PE. Epolene, low-molecular-weight polyolefin waxes are also offered as raw materials for making color concentrates. Eastobrite OB-1 is used as an optical brightener in PE, nylon, PET, PVC and PS.

EBONEX CORP.

Company's bone black pigments are specialty products characterized by high masstone, easy dispersibility, low oil absorption and low cost. They are available as dry powder for incorporation into most plastic resin systems, e.g., vinyls, polyesters, urethanes, epoxies and acrylics.

A new grade, Cosmic Black FCG-1, has been approved by the FDA for food-contact applications. Product reportedly meets Food Chemicals Codex specifications, and is consistent with section 175.300 (B) (1) for use in resinous and polymeric coatings.

CHARLES B. EDWARDS & CO., INC.

Custom colorant and additive compound manufacturer produces pellet concentrates, Color Flo liquid dispersions, and dry colors (unitized or bulk). Concentrates and liquid colors are produced for most thermoplastics, including engineering resins. A line of FDA-acceptable colorants is available in all three forms. The company is capable of handling color concentrates and liquid systems in all sizes.

ENGELHARD CORP.

Offers a wide variety of inorganic and organic color pigments. The Meteor inorganic colorants include high-temperature mixed-metal oxides, and a line of fine-particle-size pigments called Meteor Plus. Also offered are cadmium lithopones and toners, chrome yellows and molybdate oranges. The cadmium pigment line includes pigments that are low-soluble and low-dusting. The Mindust low-dusting pigments generate lower levels of airborne dust when compared with untreated cadmium pigments.

Organic pigments include diarylide yellow and oranges, dianisidine orange, dinitroaniline orange, permanent 2B reds, pigment scarlet, BON reds, Red Lake C, pyrazolone red, lithol rubine, as well as phthalocyanine blues and greens.

FEDERAL PLASTICS CORP.

Custom color concentrates for PE, PS, PP and ABS are offered for injection molding and extrusion. UV stabilizers, antioxidants, lubricants and mold-release agents can be included.

FERRO CORP.

COLOR DIV.

High-performance inorganic pigments are available for use with most thermoplastic and thermoset resin systems. Pigments are especially recommended for engineering plastics and rigid PVC. The line includes cobalt blues and greens, chrome-iron-zinc browns, chrome-copper blacks, iron-free browns, IR blacks, nickel-titanate yellows, and chrome titanate yellows. Some of these pigments are designed as heavy-metal-free as defined in the Food Chemical Codex, page 512. Company also offers a full line of cadmium-pure and lithopone pigments.

FERRO CORP.

Offers epoxy, polyester and silicone paste color concentrates, in both organic and inorganic pigments:

* Epoxy - the liquid-resin vehicle for epoxy paste reportedly will not plasticize epoxy compounds.

* The polyester paste is 100% solid and reportedly offers low viscosity and rapid wetting without plasticizing polyester resins.

* The silicone paste is thermally stable, relatively inert, noncorrosive, and compatible with most silicone rubber systems.

Company's color paste concentrates are laboratory-controlled to ensure uniformity of color, dispersion, viscosity, and fineness of grind.

FERRO CORP., PLASTICS COLORANTS

& DISPERSIONS DIV.

Offers thermoplastic color concentrates in pellet, liquid, and powder form for use in PP, PE, PS (g-p, impact, and flame-retardant), and ABS (g-p, transparent, and flame-retardant).

Company's line of concentrates for flame-retardant resins contains more than 20 colors, including the wood tones commonly used in TV cabinets. Concentrates can be specifically formulated for use with flame-retardant impact PS and reportedly do not affect the resin's UL flammability rating.

Liquid-color dispersions are available due to the company's acquisition of Rosemar Industries.

Concentrates for food-packaging materials are FDA-approved.

Additive concentrates are available with uv stabilizers, slip or antiblock agents, antistats, antioxidants, nucleating agents, and special lubricants. Products are shipped in bulk, gaylords, or bags.

Manufactures liquid colorants for thermoplastics. Special products include transparent dyes, fluorescent, metallic, and pearlescent colors. Colors can be incorporated into a liquid carrier designed for injection molding or extrusion for PE, PP, PS, ABS, nylon, PC, acetal, and other resins.

HARWICK CHEMICAL CORP.

Offers a complete line of Stan-Tone dispersions. Both organic and inorganic pigments are dispersed in a variety of vehicles, including ester plasticizers, polyethers, polyesters, epoxy, ESO, PVC, and PU. Custom products and color-matching services are available.

HILTON DAVIS CHEMICAL CO.

Organic pigment toners and high-solids presscakes for plastics include phthalo blue and green, diarylide and Hansa-type yellows, and various azo oranges and reds. Inorganic transparent iron oxides reportedly screen out harmful uv radiation and are said to help meet FDA requirements for food contact and provide an inexpensive means of pigmenting plastic bottles, medicine vials, film, and fiber.

Polytone colors, a line of pigments flushed in an unsaturated polyester vehicle, are recommended for pigmenting gel coats and fiberglass-reinforced thermoplastic and thermoset resins. Reported advantages include higher gloss, brightness, tinting strength, cleanliness, and degree of dispersion over traditional three-roll-milled color systems.

Auracote flushed colors, a line of pigments dispersed in PVC plasticizer, are intended for plastisols and flexible vinyls and are said to offer advantages in degree of dispersion, high gloss, and economy.

Microspin colors are a line of nondusting, free-flowing, powdered, resin-encased pigment particles, recommended for thermoplastics. These are also available in an F series, said to meet certain FDA requirements for use in contact with food.

Company also markets ultramarine, chromium oxide green, anticorrosive pigments, chrome yellow, and moly orange dry colors made in Spain by Nubiola S.A.

HOECHST CELANESE CORP.

Produces a wide range of organic pigments and melt-soluble dyes for plastic applications. A complete range of plastic color concentrates are available for the melt coloration of polypropylene, polyester, and nylon fibers. The organic pigments, as well as the concentrates, include a range of yellows and reds with heat stability suitable for replacement of many inorganic pigments. MILLIKEN CHEMICAL CO.

Supplies a full line of colorants for polyurethane. Reactint colorants are reactive, polymeric colorants that can be used in both ether and ester urethanes. They are homogenous, low-viscosity solutions that are reportedly much easier to use than pigments.

BondTint colorants are a new line of reactive, polymeric colorants for bonded underlya. Bright, easy-to-use colors can be used as blends or with a three-primary, blend on-the-fly system.

Cleartint, a new line of transparent colorants for polyolefins has been recently introduced. The colorants are available as pelletized concentrate and are reportedly bright, clear, nonbleeding, nonmigrating. Because they are nonnucleating, shrinkage or warpage is eliminated.

MINERAL PIGMENTS CORP.

Inorganic pigment line includes a full assortment of synthetic and natural iron oxides designed for maximum ease of dispersion and a line of high-heat stable browns and tans especially formulated for thermoplastics. The latter are noncadmium types and reportedly offer cost savings over cadmium sulfide pigments. They are recommended for PVC, PE, PS, polycarbonate and for PP, when used with proper stabilization. MOBAY CORP.

Offers an extensive range of organic pigments and dyes. Macrolex dyes are said to offer heat stability, high tinting strength, and clean shades. Suited for engineering thermoplastics, Macrolex dyes may be used with opacifying agents to replace heavy-metal pigments. Ceres oil dyes may be used to color waxes and polymers processed at intermediate temperatures. The Ceres dyes reportedly offer economy, brilliant shades, and high tinting strength.

High-performance organic pigments include a full range of perylenes from red to maroon, quinacridone reds, magentas and violets, specialty yellows and oranges, and phthalocyanine blues and greens.

Company's Bayferrox pigments represent a full line of high-quality synthetic iron oxides available in red, yellow and black. The micronized grades are said to provide excellent dispersability and high tinting strength when compared to non-micronized. Bayferrox AC-5069 and the new version PK-5087 have been developed for systems where processing temperatures between 400-500 F are necessary. Company's Injecta Color Division offers liquid colorant dispersions for process equipment that uses plasticating screws (injection, extrusion, blow molding). System reportedly assures the user of uniform color without agglomeration, streaking, migration, splay, or plate-out. Bee liquid colorants are said to be unaffected by variations in shear; and they provide machine-to-machine color uniformity.

*Sandorin pigments - a range of high quality organic pigments with all-round properties and reportedly excellent fastness to light and weathering.

*Graphtol pigments - a range of organic pigments with reportedly good all-round properties, good to excellent fastness to light and weathering, depending on the product.

*Estofil S dyes - polymer-soluble dyes for the dyeing of polyester fibers in the spinning mass.

*Nitro Fast dyes - soluble dyes for transparent plastics and many miscellaneous applications.

*Leucopure EGM - an optical brightener for thermoplastics stable to 662 F. Product has FDA approval for use in polyolefins and polyethylene terephthalate fibers.

A. SCHULMAN, INC.

Sells a line of color and additive concentrates under the Polybatch brand, as well as a line of carbon black concentrates under the Polyblak brand. Polybatch color concentrates are offered in a full range of colors and a variety of polymers. Multifunctional Polybatch types, those combining pigments, as well as a number of additives in one product, are also offered. The Polyblak concentrates contain different carbon black types at various loadings in such carriers as LDPE, LLDPE, PP, EVA, PS, and ABS.

SEEGOTT INC.

Offers a line of pigments and colorants. Types include aluminum powders, flakes and paste. Also, offers oxides, black, brown, red, green and yellow, and titanium dioxide.

SHEPHERD COLOR CO.

Manufactures inorganic mixed-metal-oxide pigments. Included are cobalt aluminate blues, cobalt chrome aluminate turquoises, cobalt titanate greens, nickel titanate yellows, chrome titanate buffs, iron titanate browns, iron-free titanate browns, copper chromite blacks, cobalt violets, and manganese violets, all supplied in dry powder form. The pigments produced by high-temperature calcination process, are characterized by their inertness and are said to be suited to applications where stability to light, heat, weathering, and chemical attack are important. Typical applications are in rigid and flexible PVC, including vinyl siding, PE, PP, PS, nylon, ABS, polycarbonate, and reinforced plastics.

SILBERLINE MANUFACTURING CO.

Company's Silvex line of aluminum flake pigments is manufactured specifically for plastics use. Grades are offered in a range from very fine particle size for a satin metallic appearance to larger-sized particles for a sparkle effect. When combined with transparent pigments, metallic qualities are said to result.

Product consists of aluminum flakes enveloped by a suitable plasticizer or mineral oil to minimize hazards of dust, contamination, and fire. Sparkle Silvex series has small flakes that can give the brightness of coarse flakes and reportedly produce the same effects as metallic paint coatings.

Also manufactured is Silvert, a pelletized aluminum pigment concentrate containing 80% aluminum flakes encased in a polymeric substance. Advantages of the product are safety, cleanliness, ease of handling, compatibility with most resins, and stability. A wide range of aluminum flake particle sizes is available.

SPECTRUM COLORS, INC.

Supplies dry colors, color concentrates and additive concentrates for all thermoplastic resins.

STANCHEM

A BUSINESS UNIT OF C-I-L, INC.

Supplies dyes and pigments manufactured by Imperial Chemical Industries Ltd. and ICI-Francolor S.A. Offered are phthalocyanine green, phthalocyanine blue and high-performance pigments such as quinacridones, indanthrone blue, flavanthrone yellow, oxazine violet and condensed azos.

Also offered are Waxoline polymer soluble dyes for use in styrenics, acrylics, and ABS. Company also represents Reckitts (Colours) Ltd. of Hull, England, and supplies that company's ultramarine blue and cadmium pigments.

STANDRIDGE COLOR CORP.

Offers concentrates for polypropylene, nylon, and polyester fibers.

SUN CHEMICAL CORP.

PIGMENTS DIV.

Produces a full range of organic pigments. Pigments are available for the coloration of all common polyolefins as well as most other polymers. Product line includes azo reds and yellows, quinacridones, carbazole violet and phthalocyanine pigments. Also offers a line of FD&C and D&C pigments for those applications requiring certified color.

In addition to the standard dry powders, many of the pigments are also available as high-solids presscakes or in PE flush. All customers receive a certificate of analysis showing the color values of each lot at the time of shipment.

SYNTHETIC PRODUCTS CO.

SYNPRO-WARE DISPERSIONS

A broad line of dispersed inorganic pigments is available for use in silicones. Vehicles are based on silicone oils or gums.

TEKNOR COLOR CO.

SUB. OF TEKNOR APEX CO.

Offers color concentrates for injection molding and all extrusion applications. Concentrates are produced for styrene and polyolefin resins, as well as resins such as rigid and flexible PVC, nylon, surlyn, hytrel, polycarbonate, acrylic and acetal. Standard colors are available for PVC and PE wire and cable applications, as well as various extrusion applications.

Another special product line is company's Color Crystals which permit high pigment loadings in a proprietary carrier. Color Crystals are reportedly very cost-effective and can usually be formulated for use with several resins. Also, specialty concentrates are available, such as stabilizers, antistat, and chemical blowing-agent concentrates.

Complete technical service and production facilities are located in Cumberland, R.I.; Jacksonville, Texas; Henderson, Ky.; Industry, Calif.; Hebronville, Mass.; and Lodi, Ohio.

THERMOSET PLASTICS INC.

Manufactures a custom line of pigment pastes for epoxy. Products are said to be stable. Colors include white, black, yellow, red, blue, green, grey, brown, and orange.

TIOXIDE AMERICA INC.

Company's Tioxide line of titanium dioxide pigments is said to disperse easily in a variety of thermoplastics and gives a high degree of whiteness, opacity and tinting strength. Undertones range from blue (FC2, FC6) to neutral (TR-92, HD6X, CR40).

Grade FC6 is siloxane-treated for low moisture content and ease of dispersion. FC6, TR92, HD6X, and CR-40 are recommended for rigid PVC building products and all, except for TR92, have NSF approval for use in PVC potable water pipe. HD6X is designed for use at relatively high pigment concentrations, such as in opaque flexible PVC. TR92 and CR40 are recommended for colored PVC siding, profiles, and gel coats, which require high weathering resistance.

TRI DELTA COLOR

Offers a line of concentrates, dyes and pigments. Products are available as powders or pellet dispersions in PE, PP, PS, and ABS. Color matching is done on the company's ACS computer system.

USI DIV.

QUANTUM CHEMICAL CORP.

Spectrathene color concentrates are offered in stock and custom colors for most thermoplastics. They offer letdown ratios from 20:1 to over 250:1 and are said to be clean, uniform in pellet size, and suited to bulk handling and conveying.

Concentrates and compounds requiring FDA and USDA compliance are readily available. Applications include extrusion of film, sheet and profiles, extrusion coating, injection/blow molding.

Concentrates may also include other additives, such as slip and antiblock agents, uv stabilizers, blowing agents and flame retardants. Company specializes in custom formulating multifunctional concentrates to meet specific design requirements.

Company also offers a line of high-performance white concentrates for use in applications requiring nonyellowing characteristics, sub-mil and embossed film and extrusion coating. These products are formulated to withstand elevated processing temperatures. Two products, XEC-8877 E1 and XEC-8892 E1, for extrusion coating and laminating of LDPE, are available for sampling. XSU 8763 F9 (70% Ti[O.sub.2]) and XEC-8947 E12 (50% Ti[O.sub.2]) are copolymer-based concentrates for acid copolymer resins.

UNIFORM COLOR CO.

Color concentrates are supplied for a variety of thermoplastics. Company specializes in custom colorants for engineering resins, fast matching, quoting, and production deliveries. Fluorescent, phosphorescent, pearlescent, and metallic concentrates are also offered, as well as additive packages including antistats, lubricants, uv inhibitors, and fragrances.

UNITED MINERAL & CHEMICAL CORP.

Offers a complete range of cadmium pigments, consisting of yellows, oranges, reds, and browns, both CP and lithopones, for heat-stable applications. Also available is a wide range of organic pigments including Red Lake C, Red 2B, and phthalocyanine blues. Nontoxic phosphorescent pigments for "glow-in-the-dark" applications are also offered, along with a full range of fluorescent pigments. Company specializes in custom-matching shades to customer needs.

U.S. GYPSUM CO.

CAS-20-4, an anhydrous calcium sulfate (gypsum), is recommended as a low-cost Ti[O.sub.2] extender. With a 4-micron average particle size, it has high brightness, good opacity, low abrasion, and food contact approval.

U.S. SYNTHETICS CORP.

Concentrates and dry colorants are available in stock or custom colors. Special color concentrates are available for food packaging and high-heat applications. For outdoor applications, uv-stabilized formulations can be custom designed. Concentrates and colorants are tailored for most thermoplastics.

WARNER-JENKINSON CO.

Company reportedly has the largest industry capacity for producing food, drug and cosmetic FD&C and D&C pigments. A complete line of FD&C and D&C lakes, including technical grades, is supplied in all hues and in a wide range of primary concentrations. Custom and stock pigment blends are available, as is custom batch packaging. Also available is a line of uncertified natural colorants, such as Annatto, Carmine, Grape Skin Extract, and new natural Beta carotene, reportedly the first of its kind to be introduced domestically.

Company is headquartered in St. Louis, but operates warehouses on both coasts.

WASHINGTON PENN PLASTIC CO.

Offers a complete range of concentrates formulated to customer specifications. Pigments are designed to deliver maximum tinctorial strength during processing, as well as heat, light and chemical stability. Pigments and resins are blended in a Banbury or other mixer and then post-blended so that each lot is uniform.

WESTOVER COLOR & CHEMICAL

SUB. OF ADVANCE RESINS CORP.

Color concentrates and multifunctional concentrates are offered. Single- and twin-screw compounding can handle orders from 50 lb to one million lb. Company can also handle commodity or engineering grade materials and proprietary blends and alloys. Capabilities include computerized color matching and quality control techniques.

WHITTAKER, CLARK & DANIELS, INC.

Company supplies the following inorganic pigments:

*Cadmium sulphide - custom heat-stable pigments from yellow to maroon, available as pure, concentrate, and lithopone.

*Manganese violet - heat-stable pigments with reportedly excellent brightness and more red than alternatives.

*Iron oxides - full range regionally distributed.

*Titanium dioxide - full range distributed regionally.

*Titanium dioxide, BC, USP for special pharmaceutical and cosmetic applications.

Offers its Chroma-Tek line of liquid color dispersions. Masstones and custom color matching are offered in monomer-free reactive unsaturated polyesters, epoxies, polyether and polyester urethanes.
