Colonial Data Technologies announces management changes.

NEW MILFORD, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 8, 1996--Colonial Data Technologies Corp. (Nasdaq:CDTX), today announced the appointment of Timothy R. Welles as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of the Company reporting to Robert J. Schock, Chief Executive Officer.

Mr. Welles will also be joining the Company's Board of Directors, effective March 7, 1996. In addition to Mr. Welles' appointment, the Company also announced other officer appointments and changes in its management structure.

In making the announcement of Mr. Welles' appointment, Mr. Schock stated, "We are pleased to welcome Tim to Colonial Data as a member of our senior management team and as a member of the Board. He brings to us a unique combination of knowledge and experience in the telecommunications sector and an intimate knowledge of the Company's strategic commitment to becoming a market leader in providing products and services that support the development and implementation of intelligent network services. The Company's growth in recent years has been through both internal growth and opportunistic acquisitions and joint ventures. With Tim on board, we will be well positioned to continue, if not expand these efforts in the coming months."

Mr. Welles joins Colonial Data from First Albany Corporation, where he held the position of Senior Vice President, Investment Banking. While at First Albany, he was very active in telecommunications and related areas and has served as an outside advisor to Colonial Data since July, 1994.

The Company has announced other changes to its management structure. Walter M. Fiederowicz will be retiring as Chairman of the Board, but will remain a member of the Company's Board of Directors and a member of the Executive Committee of the Board. Mr. Schock, the Company's President and Chief Executive Officer, will assume the additional title of Chairman. Joseph Cline has been named an Executive Vice President, with overall responsibility for the Company's sales and marketing efforts and management of the Company's operating subsidiaries and joint ventures. Daniel V. Cusack has been named Executive Vice President with responsibility for the Company's manufacturing, repair and service operations, as well as its administrative and support services.

Colonial Data Technologies Corp. designs, develops and markets telecommunications products that support intelligent network services being developed and implemented by leading domestic and international telephone operating companies. The Company has concentrated its product development and marketing efforts on products that support Caller ID and other emerging intelligent network services. The Company markets an ADSI smart phone, Telesmart 4000, which provides consumers call management features and major new advances in interactive applications via telephone.
