Colombia : Colombia participated in the 41st session of the Conference of the United Nations Organization for Food and Agriculture (FAO).

Through the Colombian Embassy in Italy, Colombia participated in the 41st session of the Conference of the United Nations Organization for Food and Agriculture (FAO), which took place in Rome (Italy) between on June 22 and 29, 2019. The Conference is the governing body of the Organization and meets in regular sessions every two years.

During the meeting, Mr. Qu Dongyu, a Chinese national, was elected as the new Director General of the Organization for the period between August 1, 2019 and July 31, 2023, and who succeeds Mr. Jos Graziano da Silva, of Brazilian nationality.

The central theme of the general debate of the Conference was migration, agriculture and rural development. The session also included the election of the new members of the Council of the Organization and the adoption for the sessions of the governing bodies during the biennium 2020-21, related to the promotion of healthy diets and prevention of all forms of malnutrition.
