Collins gets into the frame for Hollywood.

IRISH hardman Steve Collins is trying to get into Hollywood - the hard way.

The ex-world boxing champ is leaving his chances of pursuing a Hollywood acting career in the hands of a complete unknown.

The Dubliner revealed how he has spurned big movie offers and is set to star in a low budget Irish movie written by a complete novice instead.

Collins, who has already starred in the blockbuster British gangster flick Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, revealed he is keen to learn his new craft the hard way.

Collins is very excited about the new project.

"I've had a few movie offers and I could have chosen the one which would have paid the best and given me the most exposure.

"However, I've gone for a low budget film which has been written by an up-and-coming writer.

"I really liked the script and I think it will benefit me if I choose to try a full time career in film," he said.

Details of the film are still under wraps although it is understood the movie was written with Collins in mind.
