Collins & Aikman to build automotive plant in Mexico.

One of the oldest diversified textile manufacturers in the U.S., Collins & Aikman, Charlotte, NC, will open an automotive products plant in Queretaro, Mexico, to produce molded carpet and other products. The company, which already has an automotive division that makes both tufted and needlepunched flooring and trim, will operate the 100,000 square foot facility to supply automotive plants located in Mexico. The multimillion dollar investment is designed to serve U.S. and foreign automotive manufacturers in Mexico. The site is expected to be operational by late winter.
