College set to launch real estate academy.

Queensborough Community College will launch a Real Estate Academy sponsored by its Office of Continuing Education and Business Development on September 17, 2003 at 5 p.m. in the Student Union building on campus. Participants in the new Academy program will fulfill the necessary 22.5 hours of continuing education credits required by the real estate field every two years for active agents.

The new program will officially open with a Queens Chamber of Commerce business card exchange. Following this event, a seminar entitled "Dynamic Trends in the Real Estate Market," and featuring keynote speakers Joe Mattone Sr., Chairman and CEO of MattoneGroup Limited, Robert Delitsky, Senior, Director of Holiday, Fenoglio, and Flower L.P., and Al Pennisi, Senior Partner of Pennisi, Daniels and Norelli will take place. George Rozansky, Vice President of ATCO Properties and Management, will moderate this seminar; designed to focus on development trends, financing trends, and residential and legal trends in the market.

"The real estate community is helping us to shape this academy, with an active steering committee of real estate professionals and Queens Chamber of Commerce representatives. We will also appoint a director from the real estate community as well as an advisory board to guide the development of this Academy," said Carla Visser, acting Executive Director of Continuing Education and Business Development.

Other courses, geared to key areas in real estate including appraisals and valuations, real estate finance and investment and real estate law, will be part of the Academy course offerings.
