College on track for diversity gong.

BOURNVILLE is the first college in Birmingham to receive The Investors in Diversity - Stage 2 recognition and is on track to achieve this prestigious quality mark by March next year.

Investors in Diversity is a quality standard which helps organisations manage equality, diversity and inclusion through a planned and holistic approach.

Shelley Phelan, equality and diversity manager, together with a dedicated steering group at Bournville College, has been the driving force behind the initiative to achieve this prestigious mark.

As part of the initiative, they have been working with cross-college departments, helping them recognise and monitor their already existing good working practices, identify gaps for improvements and implement new positive changes.

Shelley said: "The Stage 2 award is an official recognition of the dedication and commitment of staff at Bournville College to promote equality and celebrate diversity among its fellow staff, students, clients and the rest of its supply chain.

"It confirms that the college is clearly committed to diversity and equality of opportunity."

Joan Martin, Investors in Diversity advisor, who has been working with Bournville College during Stages 1 and 2 of the award, said: "I wish Bournville College every continued success."
