SITUATED in the historic and sophisticated Jewellery Quarter, near the centre of Birmingham, Abbey College Birmingham is a dynamic, friendly college, offering high-quality A-level and GCSE teaching in small groups, a modern, purpose-designed environment, specialist university application support, excellent pastoral care and a full enrichment programme.
Students are well supported by a team of staff ranging from their subject teachers to heads of department, personal tutors and heads of year. Classes are small, allowing tailored support to be provided and giving students the confidence to develop as independent learners.
Abbey College Birmingham offers an outstanding GCSE programme for students who wish to join in Year 10, or transfer mid-GCSE into Year 11, or for students wishing to re-sit their GCSEs. Overall GCSE standards have continued to rise at Abbey College and many students transfer directly on to the college's successful A-level courses. College principal Stephen Robinson said: "Abbey College teachers are inspirational and approachable. They focus on every student as an individual and are completely committed to helping their students to make their aspirations a reality. Students thrive in our friendly, informal environment, where they are treated as young adults, and many achieve grades they didn't believe possible."
"Abbey College Birmingham is proud to play such a pivotal part in so many student success stories."
The St Paul's Square College has also recently extended its facilities with a PS500,000 refurbishment of neighbouring buildings amounting to an additional 3,000 sq ft of space to meet the growing demand for student placement and to improve facilities for students.
The impressive new extension, which will open in September in time for the new cohort intake, includes excellent student support services and large catering facilities.
The enlarged space will provide exceptional support for students, combining all aspects of student services as well as top-of-the-range communal areas. The new space will enable the existing college building to enlarge its teaching area and further improve its classrooms and learning facilities to offer best-in-class education to its students.
With its clear focus on subjects leading to opportunities in business, medicine, science and engineering, Abbey College Birmingham shares the specialisms and expertise of its home city and is therefore uniquely-placed to offer students the very best preparation for university courses and career paths in these fields.
The college maintains active links with universities and career providers in the city, and is well-known and highly-regarded for the excellence of its academic provision.
Abbey College Birmingham is a vibrant, independent college right in the heart of the city centre. For more information on Abbey College visit www.abbeybirmingham.co.uk or call 0121 236 7474.
