In a rather technical style, Heath takes up subjects such as soils, growing frames, and how to make an alpine house (a cool greenhouse). He goes into much detail on insect and disease control and all aspects of container cultivation.
A 543-page clothbound volume, the book is well salted with photographs (both black-and-white and color) and illustrations. It should be a help to anyone who grows alpines.
