Coffee shop has sick bird perky again.

Byline: RECORD reporter

A HOT drink from a coffee shop helped save a sickly lovebird.

SSPCA officers were alerted on Wednesday when a man discovered the distressed bird - the species is a native of Africa - in his Dumfries garden.

But the ailing pet got his pecker up with a syrupy sip.

Animal rescue officer Tracy Cannon said: "The poor wee guy looked like he had no life left, so a Colleague ran to a nearby Costa for warm water and sugar and within half an hour he was on my shoulder, chirping."

The lovebird, dubbed " Costa, is now under the wing of the Scottish SPCA.

It is thought colourful Costa fled a family home. If you can help him return, call 03000 999 999.
