Cocaine shipment shoot-out.

PORT-AU-PRINCE: Two people were shot dead yesterday as villagers plundered a huge cocaine shipment brought by yacht to a southern Haitian beach.

A 30ft yacht cast anchor off Grand-Goave, 35 miles south-west of Port- au-Prince on Friday, and four small boats transported its cargo from Colombia to a private beach.

One of the victims was a deputy mayor candidate, Mr Wislhome Jocelyn, aged 31, of former President Jean-Bertrand Aristide's Lavalas Family party.

Witnesses said he was killed in a fight with his security guard, whom he had allegedly ordered to go to the beach to get a part of the shipment.
