Coating enhances in-mold labeling.

A lightly applied adhesive coating on the surface face of in-mold labels ensures that the labels stay in place and that "tie-tack" is neutralized. Accu-Tack is the latest advance in the Accu-Place In-Mold Labeling (APIML) technology from Avery Dennison, Troy, Mich. It reportedly offers the potential to eliminate static generators or vacuum to hold labels in the mold.

Labels with Accu-Tack coating are supplied in rolls on a release liner. Initial commercial applications include labeling on snowblowers and autos, including under-hood applications that must meet impact requirements at -20 F. Accu-Tack has been used in 2005-2006 passenger cars for safety labeling of air bags or sun visors and emission stickers on large SUVs and trucks. It was recently approved by General Motors for use as an emblem on plastic engine covers. It is also aimed at brand labels for household and industrial appliances, electronics, air conditioners, and power tools. Tel: (248) 458-0900 * PTDirect: 682YD
