Coach honour.

A HOMEGROWN swimming coach who triumphed at the Olympics has seen his efforts rewarded.

This summer, the expertise of Stanley-born Dave McNulty helped Team GB rack up the medals.

As head coach to 21-year-old Jo Jackson, he was delighted when she grabbed bronze in the women's 400-metre freestyle final in Beijing.

And after a brief visit home, Dave has scored further success at a Leicestershire ceremony, where he was handed the Coaching Award of Excellence from the British Swimming Coaches and Teachers Association.

Dave, who for 18 years coached young swimmers at the Louisa Centre, said: "I'm thrilled."
