This is a paperbound reprint of a 2006 book. The Oslo accords, contrary to most official Israeli and American portrayals, was at its base a continuation of past Israeli positions towards the Palestinians, argues Weinberger (School of International Service, American U. in Washington, DC). Theoretically basing his work on the writings of Gilles Deleuze and Michael Hardt, he analyzes the power dynamic wrought by the accords, finding that Israel co-opted the Palestinian Liberation Organization through promises of substantial power that would create a fait accompli that would compel the Palestinian leadership to accept a permanently sub-sovereign final status agreement.
