Clubs will go underground if councils keep closing them; 7QUESTIONS RAVE LEGEND MALLORCA LEE ON BRINGING THE PARTY TO GLASGOW AND THE HOST OF RETRO STARS WHO WILL BE JOINING HIM FOR HIS 2001 NIGHT.

Your 1994 parties are the stuff of legend - what's the concept behind 2001? My favourite years for raving were 1994 with Ultra-Sonic and 2001 with Public Domain. I just wanted to put nights together that celebrated these years. The 1994 raves sell out every time, so I can now concentrate on building 2001 which covers classic trance and hard dance from 1998-2005.

How did you go about choosing the line-up? I shut my eyes and think of a night that I would like to attend The first 2001 was such a huge success, with Organ Donors and Public Domain, I knew what I wanted to do for the next one. Myself, William Daniel and Alan Belshaw are like the residents which leaves me room to book two amazing guests.

Inside Out is obviously a big influence. What made that club special? Simon Foy captured that era with Inside Out so well and many regulars attended the first 2001. The producers and tracks they were releasing made you want to go clubbing. Everything became exciting again, the golden years of classic trance, hard house and big room techno. Obviously the Glasgow Arches was a magical venue and is still the best I have ever played and raved in. Anne Savage offers something very different - what appealed about her? Anne is the first Lady of hard dance. She is an amazing DJ and has a great attitude. We have gigged together, so it's great to finally get a chance to book her for one of my own events and have a night out doing what we both love. Clubs like Fabric and The Arches are closing, stats are down - how worrying a time is it for UK clubland? When one door closes another one opens - sadly that rule does not seem to apply to club land. I think the councils will end up forcing everything back underground and in many ways it will bring everything round full circle, like illegal raves. What's next for you - more 2001 parties or are you moving to another year? My main focus is 2001. I managed to secure The Classic Grand, which is a venue I am very excited about. My next event is the Source Reunion at the world famous Barrowland on January 7, which will kick off 2017 big time, then possibly another 1994 later in the year if I can get the artists I am after. Tickets are only available from Tickets Scotland. It's been another crazy year - clubs are closing, dance is changing but you're still at the forefront - how do you do it and what keeps you passionate? For more than 25 years I have appreciated every booking and everyone who enjoys my DJ sets and productions. I never tie myself to one genre and love what I do. My 1994 and 2001 events are crazy and my monthly NOT NOR MAL night in Fantoosh, Paisley, gets stronger each month. I've also been fortunate enough to play all over the UK, LA and Budapest this year but Scotland is still my favourite place to play. We just know how to leave our attitudes at the door and have a good time.
