Clubbing: Coalesce @ Club Innocence - Get back to the summer of love.
COALESCE @ CLUB INNOCENCE
Those of you yearning for a slice of yesteryear's action - as in Woodstock- stylee free lovin' and dancin' - look no further than Club Innocence. Every week this hosts Coalesce, a bunker-like blur of smoke, strobes and hippy trippy toons that smack of summer of love raves gone by.
Unlike most of its counterparts, this warehouse-type party adheres to an unpretentious, back to basics ethic that isn't good enough for most of today's clubbers. None of your slick, label-conscious sorts here, missus. This is the bare torsos/body heat/bottled water brigade.
But what keeps these shiny, happy people coming back for more? Is it the outlandish decor, comprising weird inflatable things and ultra-violet lighting? Could it be the free sweets and cute plastic toys handed out by caring promoter Maddie? Or maybe it's the hardest-I've-ever-heard house from funky DJ KGB.
Coronation Street star Martin Hancock (Spider) seems to have it all figured out. So go see for yourselves.
Club Innocence, Arches, London Bridge, SE1. 10pm to 6am, pounds 15. Tel: 0958 901 389.
