Club attack plea.

A nightclub worker was left with a fractured cheekbone after he was hit with a glass ashtray.

The attack happened at 12.45am on Monday at the Blue Velvet table dancing club, in Dean Street, Newcastle.

Police say the male member of staff was hit in the face with the ashtray and suffered a fractured cheekbone which required hospital treatment. A spokesman added: "It's not known who was responsible.

"Police want to hear from anybody who was in the club from around 12.30am to 12.45am Monday morning and witnessed the attack." Contact Market Street CID on (0191) 2146555, ext 62068.
