Clowning around just has to stop; LETTERS.

PRANKSTERS dressing as clowns and frightening people in North Wales have sparked concern on social media.

Clowns have been spotted in Rhyl, Caernarfon, Tal y Bont, Llandudno Junction and Dwygyfylchi scaring people.

One Conwy councillor has warned that elderly people may suffer a heart attack and be even scared to death if clowns jump out at them.

The sightings have been the latest in a series of appearances of creepy clowns around the world, beginning in the USA and quickly spreading around the globe.

Here's what you have to say about the clown craze on the Daily Post Facebook page.

Helen Jones said: "They are OK as entertainers but it's not on what these clowns are doing, going out of their way to frighten people!" Sharon Jones wrote: "I bet they won't be laughing if a clown jumped out on their grandparents and caused them to have a heart attack.

Mindless idiots that's all they are."

Ray Matthews said: "Why they all follow these American things is beyond me. Do our youngsters have that much of a sheep-like capacity nowadays......Sad times."

Carol Boyton was of the same opinion: "Our children are terrified about seeing one. It has to stop NOW."

Wendy McGee said: "There was a clown on the Orme last night. A lady had to go and knock on someone's door to ring a taxi because she was so scared to walk on her own."

Dave Lewis asked: "Next step is going to be the vigilantes, taking the law into their own hands, and you know what, who could blame them?!" Bill Heatley said: "Nutsthey must have sad lives if they have nothing better to do than this!!!" James Kelly wrote: "Some people have a genuine fear of clowns, I have family member who hates them and it's not funny."

Paula Court said: "Or one of them does it to the wrong person and suffers a severe beating at the very least."

Rebecca Hurd said: "Absolute idiots who have no concern for people with a genuine phobia!" Sue Roberts added: "Clowns are meant too be funny and happy these masks are totally horrific, these people need too grow up."

Nuala Bennett agreed: "Just wish for this prank, of behaviour to stop, sooner the better! What's gotten into these people?" Helen Roberts said: "What we don't need is the general public taking the law into their own hands, the talk of harming people is very disturbing."

Jo Groves said: "Ridiculous, should be nipped in the bud before someone is really hurt or terrified."

Kyle Mark Rochell added: "Wish they would stop clowning around."

Jo Roberts said: "It's not just children that are scared of clowns. I've had a phobia of clowns since I was a kid and I'm nearly 38. Reading on here that one was seen on the Old Highway is terrifying as I live just around the corner from there."

Hayley Jean Louise Hands said: "This needs to stop ASAP. Kids shouldn't be afraid of clowns they are at most party's etc and also putting them out of business."

Natalie Williams said: "If people just ignored then they'd get bored."

Catherine Davies added: "It's not a joke anymore people are scared. I know some children who are too scared to go out into there back garden in case a clown jumps over the fence and hurts them. It not right. I even heard of one running after a disabled person in a wheelchair, they don't care just thinking it's ok."

Kath Edwards agreed: "This whole thing is driving me mad. My two older girls are scared to go out incase a clown gets them and to be honest as a mum we have enough worries about our kids going out and about without such idiotic behaviour as this! fThis is not just sum harmless fun, for it to be classed as harmless fun all parties involved need to find it fun and that isn't the case!"
