Closure makes 15 redundant.

FIFTEEN workers have been made redundant after the closure of the Birmingham section of a big Midland company, and another 350 workers put on a three-day week,

The redundancies are at the Lawson and Hcalon Ltd. Long Acre factory, which was taken over last August by the Midland-based Hand Tools Division of Spear and Jack- son.

Mr. Benjamin Simkins, manager of Lawson and Heaton, said: "I am simply winding up here and getting rid of the stock now."

Mr. George Moore, head of the hand tools division, said it was not economic to run this small unit. The workers could have been absorbed at Wednesbury, but did not want to travel.
