Clinton C. C. Brown, Jr.
Clint met the love of his life, Sylvia Vanden Brink, in the fall of 1959 and they were married November 20, 1959.
He joined the U.S. Navy in 1941 and served on seven destroyers in the North Atlantic, Mediterranean and Pacific theatres during WWII. The ships included the USS Woolsey, the USS Jacob Jones, the USS Wyoming, the USS Whipple, the USS Marlboro, the USS Prairie and the USS Donner. After ending his service with the Navy in 1946, he joined the Merchant Marine and served as a Deck Officer for several years. He received his flying license in Mozambique, Africa and his later years were spent in general aviation as a district manager for Piper Aircraft Corporation and as a flying salesman for Beech Aircraft Corp. After retirement he worked part time for Wagner Motor Sales in Boylston.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Sylvia C. (Vanden Brink) Brown; a son, Chad E. Brown and his wife Melissa of Worcester; two daughters, Whitney Brown of Dalhart, Texas and Heather C. Ciccarelli of Oakham; three grandchildren, Christopher C. Brown, Megan M. Brown, and Jennah C. Ciccarelli; and a brother, Charles W. Brown of Tucson, Arizona. He was predeceased by a sister, Jane Brown O'Donnell Culbertson. Clint loved animals and leaves behind his two beloved Boston Terriers, Marilyn and Amelia, and his cat, Monkey.
Clint enjoyed flying, sailing, and restoring antique cars. He was a member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Worcester, the Boston Hangar of the Quiet Birdmen, and the American Legion Post 204, West Boylston.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00am, Saturday, December 11, at St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Worcester. The burial will immediately follow at Mount Vernon Cemetery in West Boylston. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to UMass Memorial Hospice, UMass Memorial Foundation, P.O. Box 2795, Worcester, MA 01613-9938 or the Animal Rescue League, 139 Holden Street, Worcester, MA 01606. Caswell-King Funeral Home 474 Grove St. is directing arrangements.
