Clinton/Tahanto girls tennis wins first league title.

CLINTON -- With a 4-1 victory over Bromfield on Monday, and a 4-1 win over Gardner on Tuesday, the Clinton/Tahanto Regional High School girls tennis team clinched both a berth in the upcoming Central Mass. Division 3 tournament and at least a share of the Wachusett League C title.

It is the first league title in the history of the program.

"It's phenomenal,'' Clinton/Tahanto coach Derek Moisan said of the league championship. "It is a major accomplishment and the team's hard work paid off.

"The seniors had a couple of lean years, but this is great for them,'' he said. "We talked about it at the beginning of the season, and it was awesome to accomplish one of our goals.''

The Lady Gaels, who are 9-3 overall and 8-0 in the Wachusett League C, are also in the driver's seat when it comes to a outright league title. Clinton/Tahanto has two league matches left (against West Boylston and Oakmont). The only other team with a shot at sharing the title is Bromfield, which is 7-2 in the league.
