Claver leads Lane women to team title.

OREGON CITY - MaCayla Claver covered the 5,000-meter course in 19 minutes, 24 seconds to finish second and lead Lane Community College to the women's title at the NWAACC Southern Region Cross Country Championships on Saturday at Clackamas Community College.

The Titans won the women's title with 31 points, and Mount Hood was second with 60.

In the men's race, the Titans finished second with 38 points, one point behind Clark.

The Titans won the overall title with 69 points, and Lane coach John Scholl was named women's coach of the year.

The Lane women placed all five of their runners in the top 11. Andrea Gruber finished fifth in 19:51, and Rita Krantz was sixth in 20:07.

In the men's race, Lane's Travis Stevens outkicked teammate Cesar Perez at the line to win the individual title, covering the 8,000-meter course in 25:55.

Sterling Teall finished fifth for the Titans in 27:06, and Michael Bellamy was 10th in 28:06.

Clark edges Lane

Vanessa Betancourt scored the winning goal in the 53rd minute to give Clark College a 2-1 victory over Lane in an NWAACC Southern Region women's soccer game on Saturday afternoon.

Mackenzie Fegles scored four minutes into the game for the Titans.

SOU beats Beacons

ASHLAND - Chelsea Hartman had 11 kills and Becky Johnstone had 13 digs to lead Southern Oregon University to a 25-11, 25-15, 25-20 sweep of Northwest Christian in CCC volleyball Saturday.

Cassie Bishop led NCU with nine kills.

Concordia blanks NCU

SPRINGFIELD - Concordia scored five goals in the first half to earn a 5-0 victory over Northwest Christian in a Cascade Collegiate Conference men's soccer game on Saturday.

Generals top River City

Christian Merritt scored two goals and had an assist, and the Eugene Generals scored four first-period goals on the way to a 6-3 victory over the River City Jaguars in a Northern Pacific Hockey League game on Saturday at the Lane Event Center Ice Arena.
