From the Newspaper

The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) said on Wednesday its governor or any other official did not make any statement regarding 'further devaluation of the rupee'.

Referring to a news story titled 'Pakistan has no plan to enter IMF programme' that appeared in Dawn on Jan 24, the SBP clarified that its officials commented on 'neither the quantum nor the timing' of the rupee depreciation during a meeting of the Senate Standing Committee on Finance held on Jan 23.

'(The) topic of devaluation of rupee was not even part of the agenda of the committee meeting,' it said.
