Clariant joint-venture facility goes on stream in China.

Per the joint-venture agreement between Clariant (Muttenz, Switzerland) and organic-pigment producer Hangzhou Baihe Chemical Co. Ltd., a new facility for the production of high-performance (HP) pigments went on stream in June in Hangzhou, China. At the facility, Clariant will produce red and yellow HP pigments, which will be marketed and sold by Clariant's international organization.

Formation of the joint-venture company, Hangzhou Baihe Clariant Pigments Co. Ltd., was in response to the growing demand for HP pigments in China and neighboring Asian countries--from both local and international companies investing in production facilities in China. The pigments are used in a wide range of industrial applications in printing, plastics, coatings, and specialties.
