Clare McKeon's column: Fun? Don't get taken for a ride..
I HAVE a total fear of funfair rides.
I cannot stand them.
Every year thousands of people take themselves off to Funderland.
These thrill-seekers are never happy unless they scare themselves witless.
Well this year they have a real treat in store.
Power Tower 2 is 180 tonnes of a white-knuckle ride.
The German owner and operator Ewald Scnaeder says when you get off this ride you will never be the same again. And do you know what?
I believe this man.
When I was in Nuremberg, pre-Christmas I got talking to a fairground owner and he had wanted to come to Dublin with his nice gentle children's ride.
So he got in touch with Funderland.
Not interested, was the reply.
It seems the faster, the more extreme and sick-making rides are the ones the Irish love.
YEUK: Apparently we Irish (except me) like rides which leave us feeling sick
