City writer in the chase for award; NOVELLIST IAN REACHES FINAL OF PEOPLE'S BOOK PRIZE WITH DARK TALE OF SUSPENSE.
LIVERPOOL author Ian D Jackson has reached the final of the prestigious People's Book Prize.
His second novel, Deadly Determination, was shortlisted in the competition after massive local support inspired a slew of public votes.
The People's Book Prize is a unique literary competition entirely judged by the public and open to all UK publishing companies. Ian is now one of 36 finalists out of thousands. Voting is open now and will continue until July 10, after which five winners will be announced at a ceremony on July 12.
To celebrate this and to connect with his readers in the city, Ian will be signing copies of his novels in WHSmith, Liverpool ONE, tomorrow, June 18, between 1pm and 3pm.
Inspired by the city of Liverpool and Ian's deep interest in crime and psychology, Deadly Determination plunges the reader into a dark and twisted tale of thrilling suspense.
The author even spent time volunteering at homeless shelters and a psychiatric hospital to better u n d e r-stand his subject.
He said: "My hope is that when people read the books, however much they oppose the crimes, they will be able to think from a different point of view and feel sorry for the perpetrator..."
