City prepares to host Clipper start.
The city is to host the start of the World Yacht Race with a 10-strong racing fleet berthing at the city's Albert Dock.
The fifth Clipper event, which starts on September 18, will be divided into 12 individual races taking its crews over 35,000 nautical miles.
Last year's Clipper race, which finished on the River Mersey in September, drew an 80,000 strongcrowd.
Clipper Ventures' chairman Sir Robin KnoxJohnston said: ``This is during Liverpool's Year of the Sea and will consolidate the city's position as a venue for round the world yacht racing and home to our Clipper fleet. ``Crews on the last race were full of praise for the spectacular send off afforded by the city and the welcome back by the huge crowds on the river.''
