City is getting its fair share; Views of the North.

THE "I'm alright Jack" statement about Newcastle from Sir Len Fenwick, Chief Executive of Newcastle Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, suggests he is carrying a big chip on his shoulder.

His assumes that Newcastle is being held back by the ambitions of other parts of the North East. I do not know the financial figures of each area, but I believe Newcastle gets its fair share and probably a bit more.

The last man to talk about Newcastle in this way was Dan Smith, at a time when some people used to refer to Newcastle as "Dan's Castle", and what a concrete disaster he left.

Thanks to its outward look in recent years, Newcastle has thrived and has not been held back as our knight suggests.

His outburst has shown him in his true colours: black and white.
