Byline: Beverley Lyons

A HOST of top comedians, including Jimmy Carr, Harry Hill, Al Murray and Paul Merton, will take part in the Glasgow International Comedy Festival this March.

The event will also showcase plenty of Scottish talent, including Susan Calman, Daniel Sloss, Fred MacAulay and Record columnist Des Clarke.

The festival, which will take place from March 14 to 31, will consist of 411 shows at 46 venues.

With nearly 105,000 tickets available, it's the biggest event of its kind in Europe.

Tommy Sheppard, director of organisers the Scottish Comedy Agency, said: "Glasgow is set to welcome visitors in search of a laugh from all over the world.

"We have also gone out of our way in these bleak economic times to keep prices down and ensure people can get a bellyful of laughs without breaking the bank."
