City actors a big hit in Germany.

COVENTRY performers proved a hit with German audiences when they travelled to Kiel to help celebrate the 60th anniversary of the city's twinning with Coventry.

Members of the Criterion Theatre in Earlsdon staged two performances of their hit production, Love Letters, at the Theater Die Komodianten.

Jean Firth and John Hathaway reprised their roles as Americans who exchange a lifetime of love letters.

The city performers were part of the Lord Mayor's party to Kiel.

Chris Ingall, of the Criterion, said: "The audiences, including a full house on the first night, really appreciated having an English language production performed in their local theatre.

The theatres are now considering more joint ventures.
