City Slickers : BOB CLIPS BA WINGS.
BRITISH Airways boss Bob Ayling is to keep Concorde flying for another 15 years despite cutting back on other services, Slicker can reveal.Ayling broke the news after announcing the cuts in a bid to boost profits.
Although pre-tax profits rose to pounds 200m from pounds 145m in the first quarter of this year, pounds 177m came from exceptional gains.
BA will reduce its capacity by 12 per cent over the next three years, with some routes - including Jakarta - being cut altogether.
Ayling told Slicker: "We've faced up to the fact that we can't go at the rate we used to, and I think the City is pleased with what we are doing.
"And we're investing heavily in refurbishing Concorde - it should carry on until 2015."
SLICKER SAYS: Bob's huge cost-cutting programme is paying off. Keep up the good work.
