City Slickers: STELLA'S A BIG SELLER.
FASHION queen Stella McCartney is reported to be considering starting her own label again. And Slicker can reveal leading City investors, including venture capital firms, are ready to raise pounds 50 million to back the 27-year-old daughter of ex-Beatle Sir Paul McCartney - if she decides to leave French fashion house Chloe.
The designer had her own "Stella McCartney" label before joining Chloe - but it would be much bigger second time around, given her superstar status.
"We don't know whether she wants to do her own label again, but the moment she does, the cash is ready and waiting," one potential investor told Slicker.
Stella has been a stunning success at Chloe since taking the reins from Karl Lagerfeld in 1997. In two years, sales at Chloe have rocketed by 500 per cent. No wonder the City is keen to throw money at her.
