President Keynotes Citrix iForum 2003
Today at Citrix iForum(TM) 2003 (http://www.citrixiforum.com), Citrix Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq:CTXS) and SAP AG (NYSE:SAP), announced expanded development work to provide seamless integration between Citrix(R) MetaFrame(R) Presentation Server and SAP(R) Enterprise Portal, a technology solution of the SAP NetWeaver(TM) technology suite. Made available with upcoming versions of SAP Enterprise Portal and its supported web browsers, the newly developed iView in the Business Package for Citrix enables SAP customers to extend the reach of their current SAP solutions to include any available application resource, regardless of where it originates. The integration builds on the already strong partnership and joint engineering efforts between Citrix and SAP AG on optimizing the customer ROI of the mySAP(TM) Business Suite on Citrix access infrastructure. Bill McDermott, CEO and president of SAP America, Inc., reaffirmed the strategic nature of the relationship between the two companies and detailed SAP's internal Citrix deployment in his keynote at Citrix iForum 2003 in Orlando, Fla.
iViews returns up-to-the-minute information from sources as varied as relational databases, ERP and CRM systems, enterprise applications, collaboration tools and the Web. The new Business Package for Citrix provides an iView that gives joint customers secure, single-point access to any application and information source deployed through Citrix MetaFrame Presentation Server, including SAP solutions and Web, Windows(R), UNIX(R), custom or commercially packaged applications, directly through their SAP Enterprise Portal, without the need for application re-writes or reprogramming. Developed using the latest versions of SAP Enterprise Portal and Citrix MetaFrame Presentation Server, joint customers realize significant savings in total cost of ownership and gain the ease of administration on a true platform-independent solution. The integrated solution helps make the SAP Enterprise Portal the single point of access for all the users' applications and information.
Citrix and SAP: A Legacy of Collaboration
Citrix and SAP have worked together on development and marketing activities for over four years, giving customers the ability to effectively address their need to rapidly deploy SAP solutions across the extended enterprise - while simultaneously providing predictable performance and a lower TCO for access infrastructure. Citrix is an SAP Global Technology Partner and SAP AG is a Premier Plus member of the Citrix Business Alliance(TM) (CBA) program.
Both business relationships are defined by extensive use of each others' solutions - SAP AG uses Citrix access infrastructure to manage and deliver a wide array of applications to employees, while Citrix runs its global business on SAP solutions. During today's keynote address at Citrix iForum, Bill McDermott detailed SAP's company-wide internal adoption of Citrix access infrastructure to give employees easy, rapid and managed access to applications, while providing IT at a lower TCO.
Joint customers can dramatically reduce the complexity of their IT environments, improve application performance, lower implementation and management costs, increase end-user flexibility and enable secure, easy and instant access to enterprise applications and information from anywhere, at anytime, using any device over any network.
"Citrix continues to be one of our most valued Global Technology Partners and the development work, as well as the internal use of each others' solutions is proof of the value that each company brings to the relationship," states Bill McDermott, CEO and president, SAP America, Inc. "Over 29,000 global employees use Citrix to get access to the applications and information they need to be productive and efficient in their roles no matter where they are located and regardless of their client device. With the new iView for SAP Enterprise Portal, we're giving customers the same benefit - the ability to get secure, easy and instant access to enterprise applications, information, processes and people, from anywhere, at anytime, using any device, over any connection, directly through SAP Enterprise Portal."
"Citrix is a company whose business is based upon partnership and SAP is one our most strategic alliances. As a partner at the highest level within the Citrix Business Alliance, our relationship with SAP is defined by close collaboration at many levels including sales and marketing, use of each others' solutions and technical integrations such as the new iView for SAP Enterprise Portal," said Mark Templeton, CEO and president at Citrix. "Ultimately, both companies are driven by customer needs. SAP has over 20,000 customers and Citrix, in excess of 120,000 customers worldwide. Given the breadth and market reach that Citrix and SAP bring to bear, there continues to be a great opportunity for us to work together to create the solutions that customers need to save time, money and create value."
