Citrix Access Suite 4.0 Offers Major Advancements in Secure, Reliable Access for Enterprises of All Sizes.
Citrix Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq:CTXS), the global leader in access infrastructure solutions, today announced the launch of Citrix(R) Access Suite 4.0, an integrated business access solution that enables on-demand access to any information resource for any authorized user, with any device, over any network connection, while reducing operating expenses, improving information security, and increasing business agility. Access Suite 4.0 includes the flagship Citrix Presentation Server(TM) 4.0, Citrix Password Manager(TM) 4.0 and the new Citrix Access Gateway(TM) 4.0, a universal SSL VPN solution for both data and voice applications.
With this launch, the company also introduces Citrix SmartAccess technology, a sense-and-respond capability that delivers constantly optimized access for users while rigorously protecting the security of corporate information. SmartAccess instantly senses and dynamically responds to different work scenarios with tailored access and security controls. The Citrix Access Suite 4.0 is designed for enterprises of all sizes and is the foundation of the Citrix Access Platform.
"Our 3,200 independent agents rely on Citrix to log into the network from devices we don't own, over connections we don't control, yet still with the benefits of single sign-on technology and standards-based security. Citrix's suite of products gives us complete control over the network," said Charlton Monsanto, chief information officer for Prudential Fox & Roach. "They allow us to finely tune user permissions and controls in accessing specific applications. We look forward to Citrix's future products for an even greater scalable, dynamic and flexible access platform."
"Software allowing organizations to create a highly reliable, scalable, virtualized IT infrastructure has experienced outstanding 25 percent growth between 2003 and 2004," said Dan Kusnetzky, IDC's vice president of system software research. "Virtual Environment Software is now a $19.3 billion aggregate market worldwide and is expected to experience a rapid rate of growth throughout IDC's forecast period. Citrix's vision of Access Infrastructure software is clearly a subset of IDC's virtual environment software market. As such, it could be expected to experience a similar level of growth."
Regulatory compliance requirements are also driving the business need for Access Suite 4.0 and its new SmartAccess and Citrix SmoothRoaming(TM) technologies. IT spending on compliance is expected to grow in 2005 by 43 percent to $2 billion in the U.S. alone. Access Suite 4.0 allows businesses to define a compliance framework with standardized systems that enable IT administrators to implement security controls and monitor, audit and document access security. SmartAccess takes this policy framework one step further with an unprecedented level of granular access control over applications, files, Web content and e-mail attachments based on user role in the organization, work location, device and connectivity policies.
The following portfolio of products make up the new Access Suite 4.0:
Citrix Presentation Server 4.0
Citrix Presentation Server is the world's most widely deployed presentation server. With more than 50 new features, Presentation Server 4.0 centralizes and standardizes the deployment of any Windows(R), UNIX(R) or Web application to any employee using any device. The newest version offers unprecedented scalability by supporting more users per server and more than 1,000 servers per farm, and breakthrough application compatibility with across-the-board support for all customer applications. The new Proximity Printing feature enables easy one-click printing to the nearest printer and a new printing engine that delivers as much as 400 percent faster performance with enhanced administrative controls.
Citrix Access Gateway 4.0
Citrix Access Gateway is a universal SSL VPN appliance that provides a secure, always-on, single point-of-access to any information resource. It combines the best features of IPSec and typical SSL VPNs - without the costly and cumbersome implementation and management - to make access easy for users, secure for the company, and low-cost for IT administrators. Access Gateway is the only universal SSL VPN to offer Advanced Access Control for IT administrators to manage not only what can be accessed, but also what actions are permitted after access is granted, based on the user's role, location, type of device, configuration of device, and connection.
The Access Gateway works through any firewall and supports all applications and protocols, including IP telephony. The Access Gateway automatically and seamlessly reconnects users to their applications and documents when they change locations and devices, offering users at any remote location the same access experience that they have at their desktop. It can be deployed as a stand-alone product or tightly integrated with the Access Suite.
Citrix Password Manager 4.0
Citrix Password Manager is an enterprise single sign-on solution that streamlines and automates user access to password-protected applications running on desktop computers, centralized on Presentation Server, and hosted on Web sites and legacy systems. As a standalone product or integrated with the Access Suite, Password Manager helps create a full identity management solution that protects corporate information assets and provides complete, secure information access to employees, partners and customers. New features in Password Manager 4.0 include self-service password reset and extensive auditing options through comprehensive event logging. In a separate press release issued today, Citrix announced that HP has chosen Citrix as its preferred enterprise single sign-on partner, and is offering Password Manager as an integral part of the HP OpenView Identity and Access Management suite.
