Cinepax to support WFP initiatives in Pakistan.
Karachi, April 03, 2009 (Balochistan Times) -- Cinepax, the first dedicated multiplex cinema of Pakistan signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the World Food Programme (WFP) today and will soon be screening UN agencys corporate videos, public service announcements and documentaries. Under the arrangement, Cinepax will support WFP cause by selling provided branded visibility material like pens and mugs for fundraising purposes and will screen the videos and messages before the start of the movies and during intervals with no financial gains to either party. The reason for this MOU is to help WFP create awareness among the general people about the global and local issues like food insecurity, hunger, poverty and disaster response and WFPs role in countering them and we extend our services for this humanitarian cause, said Danny Sidhwa, COO/CFO Cinepax Ltd. Cinepax is working cohesively to support and assist in social causes that largely go unnoticed. It is Pakistans first nationally branded multiplex chain with its first complex established at Rawalpindis Jinnah Park. WFP assists over four million poor Pakistanis in food insecure rural areas and has almost doubled its food assistance keeping in view the skyrocketing food and fuel prices that have forced many people fall below the poverty line. It uses the food assistance to support health, education and asset creation in addition to providing emergency assistance.
