Cinema will miss Potter pay day.

A MASSIVE cinema revamp has fallen behind schedule meaning it will not be open in time to show the Harry Potter blockbuster.

Work on the Apollo Cinema in Rhyl is around two weeks off course, leaving it unable to open its doors to movie buffs with the eagerly awaited Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part Two, which premieres on July 15.

A report by Denbighshire council said: "The program is currently two weeks behind schedule but the contractor will make every endeavour to claw back this time as the project progresses."

A spokeswoman said the complex will now open on August 1 in time for the opening weekend of Super 8. The pounds 2.6m revamp will see 3D digital technology and new seating installed at the five-screen cinema. Box office hit: Harry Potter The public areas will also be upgraded to include concession outlets and two new terraces.

An entertainment plaza will be used for a variety of events.
