Ciba Specialty Chemicals.

Ciba Specialty Chemicals, a producer of solid phosphite-based processing stabilizers, announced completion of a further capacity expansion at its Lampertheim, Germany site. Investments exceeding 30 million CHF ($21 million) in both the synthesis and finishing section of the plant will almost double capacity of Irgafos 168 to approximately 10,000 metric tons. The newly autonomous Ciba Specialty Chemicals recently made its official debut as a leading specialty chemicals company. Since January 1, 1997, Ciba Specialty Chemicals has operated as an autonomous subsidiary within Novartis, the life sciences company formed through the merger of Ciba and Sandoz. As part of the merger agreement, Ciba Specialty Chemicals is to be separated from Novartis to form an independent company. Ciba Specialty Chemicals is made up of the former Ciba-Geigy industrial businesses - additives, consumer care chemicals, performance polymers, pigments and textile dyes.
